Being gluten-free can feel pretty torturous for a self-professed sweet-toothed foodie . Our options in Singapore are still fairly limited compared to Australia or the United States, and sometimes I feel like I'm living in a constant state of food FOMO and self deprivation. But whilst they may be few and far between, there are still mouth-watering options out there, these are our picks of the best.

Entirely gluten-free, Tiann's bakery has won our hearts with their gula melaka financiers, sticky toffee pudding, English tea cake, sweet and savoury waffles... the list goes on! Their signature creation is the stuff my dreams are made of, layers of special 76% dark chocolate ganache between almond sponge, with a surprise slightly salted hazelnut butter layer with almond flakes.

Now, I love everything at Kitchen, sweet or savoury. But I have found myself popping in a little too often for this decadent carrot cake. This is a firm fave and dangerously close to my office. It's gluten, dairy, and refined sugar-free yet still tastes heavenly!

Flourless Chocolate Cake at Plain Vanilla Bakery

Coming here can be somewhat torturous, as their glass-top counter is simply heaving with the most delightful confections, none of which are gluten-free. Except for the flourless chocolate cake. Hallelujah! Plain Vanilla really nailed it with this cake. The crusty top sprinkled with cacao powder belies the light, almost souffle-like texture within, and it's absolutely perfect with a cappuccino.

The Whole Kitchen Banana Vanilla Bean Loaf

I have this for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It just feels so wholesome! And that's because it is... It has all the familiar flavours of classic banana cake without the sugar or flour. The genius folks at The Whole Kitchen use cashews as flour and naturally ripened bananas and fresh vanilla bean for sweetness. Low in sugar, gluten-free and high in protein, healthy fats and taste! I usually get my fix at Grain Traders, but you can also buy online.

The Living Cafe was one of the first healthy cafes I found when I moved back to Singapore years ago. Their entire menu is brilliant for those of us with special dietary requirements, and they have a really big selection of sweet treats to choose from. Recently we had the passionfruit and mango cheesecake which was a big hit, but frankly, you're in good hands with anything you pick.
