ORGANIC & GREEN BEAUTY TREATMENTS IN HONG KONG
Updated: Apr 23, 2020
Spending half my time now in Hong Kong, I realised I quickly needed to find my go-to's for beauty treatments in Hong Kong, especially with the humidity at 90% wreaking havoc on my skin. I was noticing some breakouts, likely from the air quality and my new walking commute through the streets of Hong Kong. Here's our current list of faves in the +852 for a clean beauty fix.
1. A GREEN MANI/PEDI at MOKSA SLOW BEAUTY AND JUICE CAFE
Sip green juices and get your beauty fix, including a superb mani-pedi without the nasties at this divine conscious beauty parlour. (Yes, chemicals from nail polish CAN leach into your body.) MOKSA uses the GREEN line from cult french brand Manucurist, which is vegan, cruelty-free, and comprised of 84% natural ingredients. If you are in a hurry, they have a BE QUICK option (from $180 HKD) which is their express service, but their full mani-pedi has an aromatherapy scrub and massage, great if you can sneak out of the office for some me-time. The Bali-inspired space is super convenient, opposite Marks and Spencers/Pure Fitness in Central.
2. PINE RESIN BIKINI WAX AT EMMANUEL F
Emmanuel F is a fully-green french hair and beauty salon and spa based in Sheung Wan that not only uses green products like NCLA, LVX and Organic Coloraturas Systems, but their ethos also extends to the fit out and maintenance of their space. They use recyclable paper, organic cotton towels, eco cleaning products and have a sustainable interior design approach with energy efficient lighting. Their spa has services like lymphatic drainage, which is a gentle form of massage that stimulates the lymph system, essential for regenerating tissue and detoxing the body. They use 100% certified organic products, and we also love their wax is imported from France, made of natural pine resin and free of colophane - perfect for those of us that have sensitive skin that gets bumpy post wax.
3. THE DE MAMIEL ANTI POLLUTION FACIAL at BEYORG
We first came across the all natural De Mamiel products on Netaporter, and were thrilled that Pacific Place's Beyorg's spa now has an Anti-Pollution Facial featuring De Mamiel. As one of the first natural cosmetics stores in Hong Kong, Beyorg is known for its curation of the creme de la creme of organic skincare. With air pollution in the city presenting a daily assault on the skin, it's important to mitigate the effects of city living with effective yet gentle home routines and top this up with regular facial treatments. This sixty minute facial features a Tui Na massage using meridian points to firm and lift the skin using rose quartz gua sha tools to firm and tighten, plus herbal compresses.
